What to Expect When You Book
With Concrete to Creek
Concrete to Creek offers structured, professionally guided outings for NYC dogs, from Intro Walks in the city to full-day adventures outside the city. New clients start with an Intro Walk. Approved clients can book Small Group Adventures, Solo Forest Treks, and Duo Hikes as availability allows. Dates are limited by design to protect group fit, logistics, and standards.
New Clients
New clients start with an Intro Walk. This is a one-on-one city walk designed to assess fit, handling, pacing, and comfort in real-world conditions. We’ll gauge whether the dog can follow basic commands, reactivity levels, and recall ability. It also lets your dog become familiar with us before any field day. After the intro walk, we confirm whether your dog is approved for adventure days and which outing type is the best fit.
Eligibility
Our outings are full-day field days with real terrain, shifting conditions, and other dogs. Eligibility is based on fit and safety. Your dog should be healthy enough for a full day, comfortable being handled for leashing and loading, and able to ride in a vehicle without extreme distress. If a dog is not a fit for a small group day, we may recommend a Solo Forest Trek or Duo Hike instead.
All dogs must be current on vaccinations and basic preventive care appropriate for outdoor environments. We may request documentation before the first adventure day and periodically thereafter. Dogs with active illness, injury, or contagious conditions should not attend.
Timing
Pickup runs between 7:30–9:00 AM. We text when we’re about 15 minutes out. Return runs between 3:00–6:00 PM. Timing shifts with route, traffic, and conditions. Duration is full day.
What You Provide
For pickup, your dog should be ready with a secure harness and a standard leash. Please avoid retractable leashes for handoff. An ID tag on collar is required. Please give your dog a bathroom break before pickup and avoid a big breakfast right before pickup to reduce carsickness. If medication is needed, send it in a labeled bag with written instructions. Bring weather layers and any winter gear you use. Please provide treats or food.
Weather and Trail Conditions
We operate across normal seasonal conditions and plan routes accordingly. We make conservative calls around weather, terrain, and trail conditions. If conditions are unsafe, we adjust the route, change the plan, end the outing early, or reschedule rather than forcing the day to match a calendar. If you prefer your dog not attend in certain conditions, standard cancellation terms apply.
Transportation
We handle planning, transport, route management, and safety decisions in the field. We carry water and basic field supplies and manage pacing and transitions throughout the day. Dogs are transported in our Concrete To Creek safety-outfitted van. Including seat belts, cushioned floor, and enough space for each dog.
Injury protocol
If an injury occurs, we prioritize safety and care first. We assess and stabilize on-site, notify the owner promptly, and arrange veterinary care when appropriate. If we cannot reach the owner in an emergency, we will use our judgment to seek immediate veterinary care. After the outing, we provide a written summary of what happened and the steps taken.
Cancellations and No Shows
Because outings are capacity-limited and planned around group fit, cancellations affect the whole schedule. We have a 48 hour cancellation, any cancellations made 48 hours before the hike will not be refunded. At pick up we provide a 15 minute grace period to pick up your dog. Otherwise, missed handoffs, no-shows, or situations where we cannot safely collect your dog due to access issues are treated as late cancellations. If you will not be present at pickup or return, you are responsible for providing clear access instructions so we can safely collect and return your dog.
Photos and Updates
You will receive photos and a short update after the outing. When conditions allow, we also capture short video clips. During the outing we limit messaging while we are moving and managing the day, but we will contact you immediately for any safety issue or injury.
Payment
Payment is processed at booking through our scheduling system. Adventure dates are reserved only after payment is confirmed. Refunds and credits, if any, are governed by the Policies page.
